Social Service in Tantan Village at Muaro Jambi

Higher Education has Tri Dharma obligations, one of which is to carry out community service. Students of the Islamic Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Faculty of Dakwah, UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi carry out social service activities in Tantan Village. The village is located approximately 25 minutes from the UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Sungai Duren campus.

The implementation of this Social Service is centered in one of the houses of the residents of Rt 04 Tantan Village. Starting at 09:30 WIB and lasting until 11:30 WIB, the social service carried out was the distribution of assistance from the academic community of the Islamic Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Faculty of Dakwah, UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, namely in the form of providing clothes and food. Head of the Islamic Counseling Guidance Study Program, Dr. Abdullah Yunus, M.Pd.I immediately attended with several Lecturers of the Da'wah Faculty of Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi State Islamic University.

On that occasion, the Head of the Islamic Extension Guidance Study Program said that this activity was assistance to members of the public in need, not a matter of the low or high value of the items given but benefits felt for residents who really needed them. "This assistance is given to members of the community who need it, don't look at the low or high value that we provide, but for people who really need it, it will definitely be useful," said the head of the BPI Study Program, Dr. Abdullah Yunus, M. Pd. I

Meanwhile, Suhur, a resident, said that he really appreciated the activities carried out by the Islamic Counseling Guidance Study Program, Faculty of Dakwah, UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. at least it can help some residents of Tantan Village who need it. He expressed his strong support for the activities carried out by BPI and stated in the same sentence, that the assistance provided would more or less be of use to the community.

The Social Service activities went well. The community, lecturers, and students then ended the event by eating together with dishes made from processed plants typical of Tantan Village, namely side dishes of shoots of Paku (ferns), boiled sweet potato leaves, and lalapan umbut rattan. The purpose of the activity to get closer and stay in touch has been achieved and the results of the evaluation of the activity indicate that similar activities will be carried out again in the future by involving more donor participation from the academic community of UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi.
